Top Stars Come Together in the Film Nine

I can remember being seated on my outdoor bean bag in the garden one lazy Sunday when I first read about the plans to make the musical Nine into a movie. Initially, I thought oh no, another wonderful show beaten down by the flat acting of this years popular starlets, along with their hokey lip syncing. I also was somewhat curious to see Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, and the fabulous Sophia Loren.

Since Madonna was featured in Evita, I have held mixed emotions about big screen actresses coming on strong in original stage productions made into films. Sometimes the outcome is a smashing success, but others, it simply diminishes the works altogether. To be quite honest, I also am torn over making these jewels so mainstream. In a way, they are special because they are not so easily accessible. Once they are shown on the big screen, DVD and every cable network out there, they loose some of their magic no matter what the quality.
