Recently, I was invited to a party for a child at the home of a neighbour. The featured activity was a movie viewing in the garden. There was an entire area set up with many, many bean bag chairs for the children, and parents. As purveyors of bean bags we were especially touched by the tale of a wombat named Beanbag. Earlier this month, it was reported that a Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat near Blanchetown had been found after being shot five times. The seriously injured wombat was found by a member of the Wombat Awareness Organisation who was conducting a routine inspection of the area.
Initially, the vet was only able to remove one of the five bullets that came to rest inside the poor creature. There are plans to remove the remaining bullets once the marsupial is in better health. The perpetrator is still at large.
While being nursed back to health, the wombat was given the name of Beanbag. He is reportedly doing well and is being fawned all over in his new home. We hope you make a full recovery Beanbag.
